Épines dorsales (Total): 7; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 9; Épines anales 2; Rayons mous anaux: 8. Semi-transparent and reddish in color.

Occurs in sheltered reef flats, lagoon and seaward reefs to a depth of 17 m or more. Feeds on small benthic crustaceans at night; cryptic under rocks or deep holes by day.
