पृष्ठीय रीढ़ (सम्पूर्ण) : 17 - 18; पृष्ठीय सौफट रेज़ (सम्पूर्ण) : 10 - 11; गुदा कांटा: 3; ऐनल सौफट रेज़: 9 - 10; जानवरों की रीड़ का जोड़: 32. Diagnosis: distinguished by the prominence of the posterior part of the mid-lateral and the anterior part of the dorsolateral stripes; further distinguished from P. spilonotus by the lower number of gill rakers (Ref. 267).

Mainly found on rocky areas cleared of sediment. Feeds on eggs (Ref. 5595).
