पृष्ठीय रीढ़ (सम्पूर्ण): 16 - 17; पृष्ठीय सौफट रेज़ (सम्पूर्ण): 9-11; गुदा कांटा 3; ऐनल सौफट रेज़: 8 - 10; जानवरों की रीड़ का जोड़: 31. Differs from other species of the genus in the structure of the lower pharyngeal bone, which is somewhat inflated posteriorly, with numerous small bicuspid teeth.

Inhabits shallow vegetated areas; feeds on macrophytes and algae (Ref. 267).
