Dorsale stekels (totaal): 13 - 15; Dorsale zachte stralen (totaal): 6-9; Anale stekels 0; Anale zachte stralen: 23 - 27. Differs from other species of Ocella in having large and small subpectoral plates, 3 blackish -brown bands on pectoral fin, 43 or more lateral line plates, 13 to 15 dorsal spines and 15 to 16 anal fin rays.
