Comments: Occurs in the Yoshino and Niyodo Rivers and the Agano River, western Honshu. Also recorded from Lake Biwa (Ref. 78994). Status of threat in the 2005 Red Data Book of Shiga Prefecture : danger increasing (Ref. 79825).

Short description Morfología | Morfometría

Espinas dorsales (total): 1; Radios blandos dorsales (total): 5-7; Espinas anales 0; Radios blandos anales: 18 - 20. Body elongated, anteriorly depressed, posteriorly compressed. Four pairs of mouth barbels present. No scales on body. Pectoral and dorsal fins enlarged and spinous. Posterior margin of caudal fin deeply notched.
