Comments: Occurs throughout India (Ref. 4832), except Kerala, Jharia river Saran in Bihar and Gadigarh in Jammu (Ref. 45255). Present in Buxa and Adma rivers (Ref. 89719). Recorded as having been or being farmed in rice fields (Ref. 119549). Also Ref. 43634, 43638, 97593. Status of threat: Low risk in Western Ghats (Ref. 50614).
