Known from Dongwan City of Dongjiang River system, Jiujiang River of Nanhai county, Yinzhou Lake of Xinhui county, mouth of Zhujiang River in Guangdong Province (Ref. 33450).

Adults feed on shrimp, crab, and other crustaceans (Ref. 75158). Adults aggregate in estuaries to spawn (Ref. 75158). An important food fish.
