Type locality of Leporinus microphysus from Laranjal do Jari, Rio Iratapuru, tributary of Rio Jari, at Cachoeira Sao Raimundo, Amapa, Brazil, MZUSP 111001. Also known from Rio Iratapuru, a tributary of the Rio Jari, above Cachoeira do Santo Antonio and tributaries of the Rio Tapajos, including the Rio Teles Pires and the Rio Jamanxim, in the states of Mato Grosso and Para (Ref. 128920).
