Comments: Type locality of Pimelodella bockmanni Manicoré, Rio Branco basin, tributary of Rio Branco, near the Parque Nacional dos Campos Amazônicos, Amazonas, Brazil, MZUSP 121925. Also known from Jiparaná and Marmelos river basins, Rio Madeira, Amazonas and Rondonia States.

Its supraoccipital process doesn't reach the anterior nuchal plate, 43-45 vertebrae, maxillary barbels that reaches between the adpressed anal-fin end and caudal-fin origin, epiphyseal branch of supraorbital laterosensory canal appearing as two distantly-positioned pores and a black mark at distal third of dorsal fin, between dorsal-fin spine and third branched ray.

Known from river basins, with shallow and clear water streams, near marginal vegetation.
