Comments: Type locality of Rivulus rubromarginatus, Estado de Goiás: stream tributary to rio Espingarda, rio do Peixe drainage, rio Araguaia basin, road GO-164. Known from the Peixe River drainage of the middle Araguaia River basin (Ref. 59346).

Collected in shallow pools and creeks adjacent to a stream which is about 10-20 cm deep; with orange clay bottom, in open vegetation of the Brazilian Cerrado and water was clear, pH 6.2 (Ref. 59346).
